Unknown Replica are a successful carbon negative Cornish music and visual arts project who had a number one album this year in collaboration with Held By Trees, the track Wave Upon Wave being constantly reviewed as the standout track on the album.
They also have a fascinating art installation project called Remixed by Nature which uses inputs from nature like solar intensity and rainfall to drive an audio system that remixes stems of music and sound using a reclaimed grandfather clock. It’s quite spectacular!
We have been commissioned to create a bespoke HTML5 site for sales of merchandise, vinyl records, cassettes, CDs.
What sets the band apart is that their merchandise is not the usual plastic coated T shirts, mugs and pens, but a range of sustainable products sourced locally from craftspeople.
This includes hand screen printed T shirts on Fairtrade organic sustainable materials, beeswax candles, local photography, organic hand made soaps with the band’s famous tree image embossed, organic massage oils made with their design of earthy scents, a stress kit to help relax, organic Cornish sea bath salts, sea-glass jewellery using reclaimed silver and sea-glass taken from recording locations.
Partnered with Play it Green, they plant a tree in a tropical rainforest restoration project that employs native peoples for every item sold and all the carbon from their studios, travel and production is offset by planting trees. Their studio is even powered by renewable energy and transport using biofuels. No greenwash here!
This is a very large project that includes origination of branding for the merchandise, registration of trademarks in the UK, Europe and USA and won’t be completed until August 2023, so watch this space for more updates!
